Maths & English Higher Level Teaching Assistant & Enrichment Co-ordinator

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Maths & English Higher Level Teaching Assistant & Enrichment Co-ordinator to support learners on our Great Start Study Programme.

This is a dual role combining classroom support with employer engagement. You will play a key part in delivering Functional Skills support while also sourcing and coordinating meaningful work placements for learners.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learner Support

  • Deliver Functional Skills English and maths sessions to learners on an individual and group basis
  • Support tutors in the classroom, providing one-to-one and small group assistance
  • Reinforce learning and help learners build confidence in core subjects
  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Support learners with additional needs, including social and emotional development
  • Monitor learner progress and contribute to reviews and assessments
  • Manage learner records and maintain accurate tracking of progress

Enrichment & Work Placement Coordination

  • Engage with employers to source work placement opportunities across a range of sectors
  • Match learners to placements based on their interests and career goals
  • Prepare learners for interviews and the workplace
  • Monitor attendance and performance during placements
  • Carry out workplace reviews and provide feedback
  • Resolve any issues that arise during placements
  • Lead and organise enrichment activities, trips, and employer engagement events

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting learners in education or training environments
  • Strong English and maths skills (minimum Level 2; higher preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and support young people with diverse needs
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Experience engaging with employers or coordinating placements (desirable)

Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to support learners on our Great Start Study Programme.

Working alongside our tutors, you will help learners develop their English, maths, employability skills and confidence, providing both classroom and one-to-one support. You’ll play an important role in creating a positive learning environment that enables young people to achieve their goals and progress into further education, apprenticeships or employment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learner Support

  • Support tutors with classroom delivery, providing one-to-one and small group learning support.
  • Reinforce lessons and help learners build confidence in English, maths and employability skills.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual learner needs.
  • Support learners with additional learning, social and emotional needs.
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of lessons and learning materials.
  • Monitor learner progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and track progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Work Placement & Enrichment Support

  • Assist tutors with arranging and monitoring learner work placements.
  • Support learners throughout their placements and encourage positive engagement.
  • Help organise enrichment activities, employer visits and educational trips that enhance the learner experience.

Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain confidential learner records in line with GDPR and safeguarding requirements.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, team meetings and continuous professional development.
  • Promote Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, British Values, Safeguarding and Prevent throughout all aspects of the role.

What We’re Looking For

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or Functional Skills Level 2) in English and maths.
  • Experience supporting learners in an education, training or youth setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and enthusiastic approach to supporting young people.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
