What does an Apprentice look like?
As an Apprentice you’ll be employed and paid by the company you work for. You’ll spend one day a week with WBTC or with one of our network of partner Colleges learning extra skills, however some Apprenticeships are delivered entirely in the workplace.

Almost all of our courses lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Employers value qualifications because they show that you are willing to learn and develop yourself. Apprenticeships are valued because they are work-based and help an employer understand your level of skill.

What do I learn?

Theory - the technical aspects of your job

Competence - the practical aspects of your job

English and Maths - the foundation of any job or career (if you have good GSCE’s you may be exempt from these)

How do I start?
You need a job as an Apprentice with an employer. Take a look at our latest vacancies to show you which companies are currently recruiting and how to apply.

How can I progress in the future?
There is clear progression from intermediate (Level 2) to advanced (Level 3) to higher Apprenticeships, which are degree-level equivalent qualifications. Our team are qualified in Advice and Guidance, so you can be sure we will be on hand to help you all the way.

Is there a cost?
If you’re aged 16-18 there is no cost for Apprenticeships. If you’re aged 19-24 we co-fund the qualification with your employer. For those aged 25+ WBTC will co-fund 40% of the cost of the training.
